
Robin Jackson is a dynamic and creative musical visionary, a true neo-bohemian with a flair for the dramatic. His optimistic and enthusiastic approach to life, combined with a diverse range of skills in a variety of performance fields, have led him to great success in the artistic world. As an active participant in the “west coast neo-cabaret scene,” Robin seeks to utilize the power of art to inspire a world based on ecological sustainability & integrity.
His adventurous and zany musical career began at the age of four, with classical Suzuki training on the violin. Today he lights the stage with saxophone, marimba, mbira, percussion, didgeridoo and sings.
He has performed and toured professionally and internationally with a multitude of successful bands including Soul Function (Funk/Soul/Jazz), Abacadubi (Latin Reggae), and Panjea (Afro-Funk/Pop). Robin also currently plays with the highly acclaimed March Fourth Marching Band, from Portland. He has spent half of his life in New Zealand, where he has performed with nationally recognized bands and at national busking festivals, including the International Fringe Festival. He has appeared three times on Oregon Public Television in documentaries about Northwest musicians. He currently holds a B.A. in Ethnomusicology, Performance, and Music Education from the Evergreen State College and also studied at the Jazz Polytechnic in New Zealand.
